Jon Stewart & Stephen Colbert Sign On Until 2012

April 20th, 2010

stephen-colbert-gqComedy Central took out an election year insurance policy this week, announcing that they have signed popular late night ‘fake news’ duo, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, until 2012.

stephen-colbert-gq“That’s a big deal for us,” the president of the MTV Networks, Doug Herzog, told the New York Times. “For us, election years are like Olympic years.”

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report continue to win praise and viewers for their irreverent look at the day’s headlines.

However, when talk came to how much the stars would be reimbursed for their time with the network, Herzog deflects saying, “They are paid handsomely and there isn’t anything they haven’t accomplished, or can’t accomplish, from behind the desks at Comedy Central, from being on every magazine cover imaginable, to — in Jon’s case — hosting the Oscars.”
