Kanye West: Deceived and Exploited By MTV

A day after appearing on the MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West has unleashed a tirade against the network and has vowed to never again work with the station, claiming they "betrayed" and "exploited" him and fellow VMA performer, Britney Spears.

In an interview on New York’s Z100 radio station on Monday (September 10), West, who, like other big name acts, performed in his own hotel suite rather than on the main stage, slammed MTV saying, "For me, they made it seem like performing on the main stage was a bad thing and the suites were just so great. It wasn’t until Justin closed the show that I was truly mad, because they told me I couldn’t get on that main stage, but they let them (Justin Timberlake and Timbaland) do that and have a suite… I feel like they deceived me and they were dishonest to me."

West went on to say, "Don’t nominate me for five awards and have me not win anything. It’s almost like they’re trying to antagonize me to see if they’ll create a TV moment, to get some ratings at my expense."

He also says that he and Britney Spears, who has received universal panning for her lacklustre performance, were exploited by the network.

"They knew that Britney wasn’t ready and they had her perform, so they exploited her. They knew how I feel about award shows playing me, so they didn’t give me an award just to see if I can give them a TV moment, where I can look like an asshole and they look great – because they’re the TV show that showed it and exploited me," West says.

"I feel like, ‘Way to have the artist interest at heart MTV.’ "

The rapper, whose single ‘Stronger’ is currently topping the charts around the world, claims he’s severing ties with the worldwide music station, and joins Justin Timberlake in vocalising his wishes for MTV to go back to their musical roots and play music rather than programming.

"I’m supposed to do TRL tomorrow (September 11), I’m cancelling that," West says. "What have I got to lose – one spin a day?"

    I have never seen a bigger baby than Kanye West! I mean “GROW UP” and get over yourself. The way he is acting he may lose more than awards, he may lose his fans!

    I don’t like Kanye West because he’s arrogant and hostile. He didn’t win any awards because there are artists out there who are better than he is. Period. Case closed.

    first of all diamonddust1@yahoo.com, and the rest of persons who have negative things to say about kanye obviously isnt well informed about media in north america…He is absolutely right and this boils down to MTV not wanting a black person reaching a certain level the kanye is obviously reaching…Kayne West isnt just another rapper..not just and entertainer..Kayne West is a “Artiste” who has the potential to move people the his prolific lyrics…like Bob Marley. However just like Bob Marley even his own country never embraced him until his death. MTV is no longer nor have they for the past 5 years had the artistes interest at heart..instead they are more bend on showcasing middle america…good luck hope it last….btw bought both 50 and kanye’s albums this morning both extremely good
