Kate Beckinsale has had a victory against a UK tabloid, winning £20,000 in libel damages, after the newspaper claimed she was dropped from the film Barbarella and suggested her career “was in decline”.
Justice Eady ruled in favor of the actress on Thursday (July 9), with her lawyer Graham Atkins telling the court that she was never in discussions for the remake and had not been passed over in favor of Rose McGowan, as the Daily Express had claimed.
Atkins said, “This article wrongly gave the impression that the claimant’s career is in decline.”
Express Newspapers will cover the damages and have offered an apology to Beckinsale.
