Katherine Heigl Returning To Grey’s Anatomy: Confirmed

After much speculation whether she would return for the sixth season of Grey’s Anatomy, after her character’s cancer scare, US television network ABC has confirmed that Katherine Heigl will return to the much-loved medical drama.
In a statement released Monday (July 20), ABC confirmed Heigl will continue to play Dr. Izzie Stevens for another season, but didn’t say in what capacity, and also announced that T.R. Knight is officially done with the show.
Creator Shonda Rhimes also took a moment to tweet from the set of Grey’s spin-off Private Practice saying, “First day shooting at PP!!! Here’s I know season’s really begun: I’ll spend my days running back and forth between the two shows/studios.”
