‘Greys Anatomy’ star Katherine Heigl has withdrawn herself from this year’s Emmy Awards, criticizing the writers of the hit medical drama for not giving her a better role in the past season.

Heigl, who won best supporting actress last year for playing Dr. Isobel ‘Izzie’ Stevens, told Gold Derby of the LA Times that, "I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention.

"In addition," she continues. "I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials."
