Kiefer Sutherland’s Rep Releases Statement On Headbutt

May 12th, 2009

Following “untruthful and self-serving information circulating” about Kiefer Sutherland’s alleged headbutt of designer Jack McCollough, his rep has released a statement on the matter.

The incident took place at an afterparty for last Monday’s (May 4) Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Gala, when McCollough allegedly knocked Brooke Shields down, with Sutherland demanding an apology.

“We are troubled by the untruthful and self-serving information circulating regarding Kiefer Sutherland and events of last Monday evening,” a statement issued by his rep says.

“We are confident, however, that the investigation being conducted by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the NYPD will confirm that Kiefer Sutherland was neither the instigator nor a wrongdoer in this incident.”

His rep adds, “Out of respect for this law enforcement process, Kiefer Sutherland will not be making any comment.”

The 24 star, who is currently on probation for a DUI, was charged with misdemeanor assault and could face a maximum of 11 months in jail if convicted.
