Lauren Conrad, star of MTV’s hit show ‘The Hills’, has opened up about what she has learned in the past year while being under the intense celebrity microscope.

When asked by website PopSugar if she could go back 12 months and give herself some advice, Conrad responds, ” It would be that I’m never going to please everybody so I should just give up now.   I mean you can waste so much energy trying to make everyone happy, but at the end of the day it’s impossible to please everyone, so you just need to focus on what makes you happy.”

The 22-year-old explains that she’s also learned some lessons over the past year saying, “I have really gotten a chance to see who my true friends are and who is going to be there for me, you know, no matter what? Like Lo [Bosworth] is one of my best friends from high school, and Audrina [Patridge] obviously has always been there for me, and I think that when it gets to a point when it’s almost too much – that’s when those people are there for you.”

Conrad, who features in the PopSugar 100 list of of the most popular celebrities, also revealed that she researches her dates before heading out with someone.

“Yeah, all of them! But I don’t believe everything I read though. I Google pictures to see ex-girlfriends and stuff, ha ha.”
