Lily Allen On Plans to Retire

November 26th, 2007

British pop-star Lily Allen has revealed in an interview on Sunday (November 25) that she’s only going to record one more album, explaining that the music industry "doesn’t leave time for what’s important."

The piece on Allen appeared on the website timesonline.co.uk and is about the relationship between the 22-year-old and her mother Alison.

Described by her mom as ‘mega-bright’ and ‘terrifically generous’, Alison says that , "She takes the perks of celebrity with a pinch of salt. What’s not to like if you get a big box from ‘your friends at Chanel’?… She enjoys it, and makes sure everybody around her enjoys it, too."

Allen says that she was determined to make it in the music business "from the age of 16" but doesn’t necessarily like the attention that being famous brings.

"When it started going well I felt very confused by the attention. I’m in the newspapers every day, pretty much."

Revealing that she’s planning to retire early, she continues, "I don’t get it. I just want to make some money. I just bought a house, in Queens Park. Maybe I could retire at 25. I’m only going to do one more album. It’s a great job, but it doesn’t leave time for what’s important. Like having a family. I’d like to live in the country and have a walled garden, and chickens and pigs."
