Lisa Marie Presley has reluctantly accepted an apology from a British tabloid after they ran a story claiming, "Bloated Lisa Marie is now the double of dad Elvis", forcing her to reveal her pregnancy.
The story made headlines worldwide when The Daily Mail ran photos of a "bloated" Presley eating lunch in Los Angeles.
"After being the target all week of slanderous and degrading stories, horribly manipulated pictures and articles in the media," she wrote at the time. "I have had to show my cards and announce under the gun and under vicious personal attacks that I am in fact pregnant."
The Daily Mail printed an apology last Friday saying:
"On March 4, we published a photograph of Lisa Marie Presley while she was dining with friends. We suggested she might have an unhealthy appetite similar to her late father. We now accept that the suggestion is untrue and apologize to Ms Presley for any distress caused."
Presley responded via her official MySpace on Sunday (May 4) stating, "It never ceases to amaze me how hard it is to get an apology and when you finally do it is NEVER in the same context or magnitude as the original slanderous story. Regardless, I accept their attempt at redemption."
The daughter of Elvis also says that any funds that come from the settlement "will go directly into the Presley Charitable Foundation… I get immense pleasure out of making something good come from something bad."

To help boost it’s circulation, the UK and Ireland “Daily Mail” tabloid newspaper gave away more than a million copies of the “Loving You” movie on DVD starring Elvis Presley.
The paper plays Good cop Bad cop with it’s Elvis coverage over the years.
