In a show of family solidarity toward her father Steven, Liv Tyler released a statement Tuesday (December 22) supporting his choice to admit himself into rehab again to battle an addiction to painkillers.

The 61-year-old rocker has suffered from chronic back pain from years of performing with his band Aerosmith and spent time in a rehabilitation facility in 2008 after foot surgery.

“He is a courageous man,” Tyler said. “We love him and are so proud that he is getting help to balance his pain management, not just for himself but for his family, friends and fans.”
