Ludacris Under Fire For Controversial Lyrics

July 31st, 2008

U.S. Presidential hopeful Barack Obama and women’s group WomenCount have slammed a new song by rapper Ludacris in which he states that Hilary Clinton is an “irrelevant b*tch.” Listen to the song here on The Celebrity Truth.

The song ‘Politics As Usual’ appears on the new mixtape ‘Gangsta Grillz: The Preview,’ with Ludacris taking a shot at Clinton rhyming, “Hilary hated on you so that b*tch is irrelevant,” along with attacks on Jesse Jackson, John McCain and George W. Bush.

A spokesman for Obama said, “As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism and degrading images that he doesn’t want his daughters or any children exposed to. This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual, he should be ashamed of these lyrics.”

Additionally, Rosemary Camposano of WomenCount has demanded an apology.

“This is not an issue of being PC, this is about beginning the grinding and painful process of rooting out this kind of hate language and behavior whenever and wherever it exists,” Camposano said.

A representative for Ludacris told MTV News that a comment on the controversy would be issued soon.
