Matt Damon made tabloid and gossip column headlines recently after photos emerged of the actor looking a little larger than his normal buff physique, however he’s revealed the weight gain is for a new role.

The 37-year-old joked with PEOPLE, “I think I lost my [Sexiest Man Alive] title,” which he won from the publication in 2007.

Damon stars in the new Steven Soderbergh movie ‘The Informant’ saying, “It wasn’t necessarily that I needed to be fat, it was that I needed to be ‘doughy.’”

Revealing the secrets to his weight gain, the Oscar winner said, “I just stopped working out and basically just ate whatever I wanted. I ate a lot of In-N-Out, a lot of burgers, a lot of beer and basically had a great time… When you’re in your 20s you can do that kind of stuff. When you’re in your 30s, its a whole different ballgame.”
