Former ‘Friends’ star Matthew Perry is working on a new comedy for the U.S. Showtime network called ‘The End of Steve’, which he is writing, executive producing and starring in.
The channel has ordered a pilot of the new show, in which Perry’s character stars as an ego-driven talk show host who is on “a reluctant path to redemption”, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The co-president of Sony Pictures Television, who are producing the pilot, explain, “This role will show fans that he can be not only funny but also reach to some dark places.”
Zack Van Amburg adds, “It will be a departure from the way America thinks of Matthew. This is the beginning of a really exciting journey.”
