Mel Gibson has denied reports that he has "fallen off the wagon" and returned to drinking alcohol after he was photographed having cocktails at a bar in Bali.

The photo’s quickly circulated around the internet with claims that Gibson, 51, had returned to his old habits, following his charge of driving under the influence in July 2006 when he was pulled over by police for speeding in Malibu, California.

The ‘Braveheart’ star was ordered to enter a recovery program for alcohol abuse and attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings up to five times a week for twelve months.

Gibson’s publicist, Alan Nierob, explained that "People should not be so quick to assume things. Unless he is there drinking water, coffee, tea or soft drinks, they’re hawking misleading photos."
