Michael Jackson Can’t Front Court Due To Illness

November 19th, 2008

Michael Jackson’s lawyer says that the King of Pop is too sick to travel to London for an appearance at a $7 million breach-of-contract trial, explaining, “it would be unwise for him to travel, given what he’s got now.”

Sheik Abdulla Bin Hamad Isa Al Khalifa is suing Jackson, claiming the singer failed to honor the terms of a multi-million dollar deal which included a new album, memoirs and a stage play.

The court case is underway in London with Al Khalifa in court Tuesday (November 18), however, Jackson is hoping to present his case via video link due to his mystery illness.

Failing to provide exact details of his sickness “for obvious reasons”, lawyer Robert Englehart said, “It would be unwise for him to travel, given what’s he’s got now.”

A lawyer for Al Khalifa responded saying, “It’s not the first time a sick note has been presented by Mr. Jackson,” adding that his condition could be treated with a bandage, “if the diagnosis is positive.”

Judge Nigel Sweeney will make a decision on Jackson’s travel plans Thursday, after medical teams from both legal teams discuss his condition.
