TMZ has learned that a series of Michael Jackson Tribute Belts, that go on sale today (May 27), have not been authorized by the estate of the late King of Pop.
According to the website, a commemorative belt signed by Jackson’s parents and children has gone up for auction, with proceeds going to the Jackson Family Foundation.
However, TMZ has learned that the 7,000 reproductions that have also gone on sale, have not been given the go ahead by MJ’s Estate.
“The Trustees of the Estate of Michael Jackson did not authorize the making or the sale of the Michael Jackson Tribute Belts,” Estate Lawyer, Howard Weitzman, tells TMZ. “We would never condone the use of Michael’s children’s signatures to promote the sale of merchandise.”
