Michael Jackson’s personal physician, Conrad Murray, was officially charged with involuntary manslaughter on Monday (February 8), for providing the singer with a powerful anesthetic that contributed to his death.
Autopsy results revealed that Jackson died of “acute propofol intoxication,” combined with other sedatives.
Propofol is an anesthetic normally used in surgery. Dr. Murray, 56, a cardiologist with offices in Houston and Las Vegas, allegedly administered the drug to Jackson as a sleep aid.
He has admitted to giving Jackson the drug shortly before the singer was found unconscious on June 25 in a rented mansion.
Dr. Murray arrived in Los Angeles last week trailed by paparazzi. He claims that nothing he gave Jackson should have caused his death.
