Michael Jackson’s family have released a statement in response to news that the singer’s death has been ruled a homicide by the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office, saying that they “look forward to the day that justice can be served.”
The homicide ruling was announced today, after court documents were released revealing that Jackson died from lethal levels of the painkiller propofol, administered by his personal doctor, Conrad Murray.
Today, Jackson’s family released a media statement that read:
“The Jackson family has full confidence in the legal process, and commends the ongoing efforts of the LA County Coroner, the LA District Attorney and the LA Police Department. The family looks forward to the day that justice can be served.”
L. Londell McMillan, attorney for the late singer’s mother Katherine, added: “This report reaffirms the very sad reality that there was a tragic and gross violation of duty and care for Michael Jackson. There is obvious legal culpability which has been the concern of Michael’s mother, family and fans worldwide.”
Jackson’s older sister La Toya Jackson first revealed her suspicions about her brother’s death in July, one week after Los Angeles police confirmed that investigators had not ruled out homicide.
“I believe Michael was murdered,” she said.
“I felt that from the start. Not just one person was involved, rather it was a conspiracy of people. He was surrounded by a bad circle. Michael was a very meek, quiet, loving person. People took advantage of that. People fought to be close to him, people who weren’t always on his side.”
