Morgan Freeman Seriously Injured In Car Accident

Morgan Freeman was airlifted to hospital on Sunday night (August 3) after his car left a rural highway and flipped several times in Memphis, Tennessee, with authorities saying he is in a serious condition.

According to reports, the accident happened when the 71-year-old was driving with an unidentified woman in Tallahatchie County, in the Mississippi Delta, shortly before midnight, however, no details have been issued as to the extent of his injuires.

Sgt. Ben Williams from the Mississippi Highway Patrol said that both occupants were wearing seat belts and, “There’s no indication that either alcohol or drugs were involved.”

Local reporter Clay McFerrin, who was on the scene shortly after it happened, told The Associated Press, “They had to use the jaws of life to extract him from the vehicle. He was lucid, conscious. He was talking, joking with some of the rescue workers at one point.”
