New X-Files Movie Named

April 16th, 2008

Chris Carter, the creator of the hit television show the ‘X-Files’, has announced the name of the new upcoming film, deciding on ‘The X-Files: I Want To Believe’ -  a slogan that featured throughout the series, on a poster hanging above one of the character’s desks.

This is the second big screen adventure for Agent’s Fox Mulder, played by David Duchovny, and Dana Scully, portrayed by Gillian Anderson, and is expected to hit theatres in the US on July 25 this year.

"It’s a natural title," Carter told the Associated Press.  "It’s a story that involves the difficulties in mediating faith and science. `I Want to Believe.’ It really does suggest Mulder’s struggle with his faith."

‘The X-Files’ finished up on television six years ago, and Carter admits that with this  new film, he is aiming to keep die-hard fans pleased, while also trying to introduce a new audience to his beloved characters.

"It has struck me over the last several years, talking to college-age kids, that a lot of them really don’t know the show or haven’t seen it," Carter explains.

"If you’re 20 years old now, the show started when you were 4. It was probably too scary for you or your parents wouldn’t let you watch it. So there’s a whole new audience that might have liked the show. This was made to, I would call it, satisfy everyone."
