US Actor and MTV host, Nick Cannon and Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks have split and called off their engagement after only five months, citing that they need to "focus on their careers".

The couple, who met at a Superbowl party in Miami last February, became engaged when Cannon proposed using a big screen jumbotron in Times Square, New York, that read "Selita will you marry me?"

Melissa Raubvogel, Ebanks publicist, released a statement about the breakup on Thursday (October 4) saying, "Selita and Nick are taking a break to focus on their careers but still very much love each other and remain the best of friends."
