August 2nd, 2008

‘Hairspray’ star Nikki Blonsky and her father Carl were arrested on Wednesday (July 30) at Providenciales International Airport in Turks and Caicos, after they were involved in a fight with former ‘America’s Next Top Model’ contestant Bianca Golden.

A spokesperson for the local authorities confirmed a brawl erupted between the two families, with Golden’s mother Elaine being airlifted to Miami hospital with head injuries.

Sgt. Chase of the Turks and Caicos Island Police Department told E! News, “They were involved in an altercation at the airport in the departure lounge,” with the 19-year-old actress receiving “some kind of injury.”

Blonsky was charged with assault, actual bodily harm and common assault and was released on $6,000 bail.

She made an appearance in Turks and Caicos court on Friday (August 1) wearing a neck-brace and must return on December 1 to face a possible maximum two year jail sentence.

Her father, who was charged for inflicting grievous bodily harm, will remain in custody until August 8 and faces five years behind bars.

Golden, who featured in series 9 of ‘Next Top Model’, was also charged with assault and actual bodily harm and was released pending a court date on September 17.

Teal Cannaday, Blonsky’s rep refused to provide details of the incident saying, “We have no comment… no comment at all.”

Reports that the incident occurred after Golden attempted to take a seat occupied by the Blonsky’s have not been confirmed.
