Oprah Addresses Student Expulsions At Her School

April 1st, 2009

Oprah Winfrey has addressed reports that her Leadership Academy in South Africa has been forced to expel several students for “confidential” reasons.

According to a spokesperson for the school, the students were expelled for violating the academy’s code of conduct, with numerous gossip columns predicting the reasons behind the expulsion.

“I’m disappointed that several of our students chose to disregard the school’s rules,” Winfrey said in a statement.  “It’s disheartening when any student has to be suspended or expelled and it’s a process that involves serious review and consideration.

“We insist on maintaining a campus environment that commands mutual respect, fosters academic excellence and encourages learners to fulfill their best potential.”

She adds, “Indiscretions resulting in disciplinary action are common in schools all over the world. Unfortunately, because of my name these common infractions place the Academy in the media spotlight.”

All this means is that Oprah Winfrey supports schools where girls engage in intimidation and sexual assault. That’ it what could be more African American than that?
