Oprah Winfrey is dedicating an entire episdoe of her show this week to her cockerspaniel, Sophie, who died of kidney failure last month aged 13, with the episode investigating puppy mills and dog welfare.
Information about the show, to be screened this Friday (April 4) in the US, was released by Winfrey’s company Harpo, with the talk show host saying, "Sophie gave me 13 years of unconditional love. She was a true love in my life."
She says the special episode on puppy mills made her "a changed woman", and says the program is "for anybody anywhere who loves a dog, has ever loved a dog, or just cares about their basic right to humane treatment."

Thank you Oprah!
Oprah’s message: Make animal shelters your first stop!
On your show today, millions of Americans learned that
99% of pet store dogs come from mothers with
â— Urine saturated matted fur
â— Untreated tumors, tooth decay, blindness
â— Exposure to the heat, to the cold, to flies and parasites
I won’t let my dollars help keep them that way.
Oprah also stated that you CAN find the dog you want in animal shelters and pet rescue! How? Visit RescueDirectory.com to find dedicated animal lovers in your area with pets waiting for your loving arms to scoop them up right now!
