Oprah Winfrey’s palatial Montecito home in California is close to the bushfires that continue to devastate the Santa Barbara area, but the talk show host has been keeping fans up-to-date with the fire’s progress via Twitter.
Winfrey started her fire updates early Saturday morning (May 9) saying, “Thank God the winds died down in Santa B. And fog rolled in.”
She adds, “The fire moved up the mountain burning grassland. Praying the winds don’t change.”
Reports that Winfrey had ordered staff to pack up her home have not been confirmed, but her rep released a statement telling E! News, “The fires are nearby, but her house is not within the mandatory evacuation area. We’re continuing to monitor.”
In her latest update on Twitter, Winfrey says, “Right now everything looks good as the weather cooled, the winds are favorable and the firefighters are making a lot of progress.”
Almost 30,000 residents have been evacuated with more than 2,800 acres going up in flames since the fires started earlier this week.
