British photographer Nick Stern has resigned from his paparazzi position with Los Angeles based photo agency, Splash, citing Britney Spears and the dangerous "frenzy" that surrounds her every move as his reason for leaving the industry.
In an interview with Richard Luscombe for British newspaper The Guardian, Stern revealed that he felt that Spear, "Directly or indirectly… is going to come to some horrific end, or a member of the public will".
"It’s not what’s being done, it’s the way it’s being done. As she continues to deteriorate psychologically, I just can’t see a postive way out," Stern said.
Explaining the incessant pursuit of Spears as one of the reasons for his resignation, Stern said that he is concerned by the tactics employed by the paparazzi to score that exclusive shot.
"The paps are completely out of control. It’s not unusual to have 20 or 30 cars purshing her at any one time. It’s become acceptable to drive at 80mph down the wrong side of the street into oncoming traffic," he said.
"I was horrified at what goes on. It’s so aggressive, there are fights and crashes and slashed tyres. I felt I needed to say something."
