Barron Hilton, younger brother of socialites Paris and Nikki, was arrested on Tuesday morning (February 12) and charged with driving under the influence in Malibu.
According to TMZ.com, the 18-year-old – who is under the legal drinking age of 21 – was driving his black Mercedes on Malibu’s Pacific Coast Highway when he was pulled over by local police at around 8:30am.
Los Angeles County Sherrif Office spokesman, Steve Whitmore, Hilton was booked and held on $20,000 bail, and his Mercedes was impounded.
Whitmoreconfirmed that Hilton had a blood alcohol reading of .14, which is well above the state of California having a legal limit of .08. For those under the legal drinking age of 18, any blood alcohol reading is considered illegal.
The DUI charge is a misdemeanor, however, the more serious charge levied again Hilton is carrying a fake license, which is a felony.
Barron’s father, Rick Hilton, said in a statement: "I haven’t been contacted yet by either my son or the police. If what I have heard is true, it is very disturbing and I will have a lot to say – but it will be to my son, not the media."
