Pete Wentz has thanked Ryan Seacrest for helping him to dodge the paparazzi on his honeymoon, after he called into his radio show and gave a false story the morning after his wedding.

The Fall Out Boy rocker, speaking on Seacrest’s Los Angeles breakfast radio show on Thursday, said, “I have to go on air and say this that Ryan, you actually saved me from the paparazzi on my honeymoon.”

Wentz made up a false story saying that he was honeymooning with Ashlee Simpson in the basement of their house with a plastic tub and trees, resulting in the paparazzi staking out the couple’s home at the time.

“They [the paparzzi] were at the house and they were sitting there and I’d actually called you from Turks and Caicos.  It got picked up on and people ran with the story that we were fake-baking with plastic palm trees in the basement, it was great.”

He jokingly adds, “For once, my cheap scummy image paid off for me.”
