Pete Wentz Weighs In On California’s Prop 8 Passing

November 6th, 2008

Pete Wentz has weighed in on California’s Proposition 8 debate, claiming that “misleading communications” were responsible for the state overturning the right for same-sex couples to marry.

In Tuesday’s election ballot (November 4), Californian residents were asked in Proposition 8 if they supported the legalization of gay marriage.

Many people were intimidated on this issue due to the scary misleading communications on the other side,” the Fall Out Boy bassist said in a statement. “I believe that this is, and has always been, a civil rights issue. We should not allow inequality like this in America.”

The ballot counting continues as the result is too close to call at the time of writing and absentee votes must still be allocated.
