US rapper Yung Joc was charged on Sunday (December 23) with carrying a concealed weapon, after authorites found a loaded semi-automatic gun as he went through an airport attempting to board a flight.
According to TMZ, the ‘It’s going Down’ rapper was attempting to board a Delta flight at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport to Atlanta, when airport employees found the weapon and ammunition in his carry-on baggage as he was going through security.
The rapper, who’s real name is Jasiel Robinson, claimed he wasn’t aware he was carrying the weapon, but was arrested and released on $50,000 bail and ordered to front Cleveland Municipal Court on Wednesday to face a possible federal charge.
His attorney, Stanley Jackson Jr., told the Associated Press that, "Yung Joc maintains his innocence. He would appreciate privacy as he addresses these allegations."
UPDATE:
Yung Joc failed to show up for his arraignment on Wednesday morning (December 26) according to the Associated Press with an arrest warrant issued for the 27-year-old rapper.
However Robinson made an appearance on Wednesday afternoon and was reportedly scolded by the Cleveland judge who allowed him to remain free on US$50,000 bond which was posted on Monday.
Reuters reports that Robinson is now scheduled to appear before the court on January 25.
