It’s lonely at the top when you’re one of Hollywood’s elite, according to a new reality show, in which party princess Paris Hilton will whittle down a group of wannabe heiresses in an attempt to find a new best friend.
MTV is set to launch the new reality TV series staring Hilton – tentatively titled ‘Paris Hilton’s My New BFF’ – which chronicles the heiress’s journey to find a new, publicly-voted best friend.
The premise of the show, which is scheduled to premiere later this year, is that people will compete for a chance to hang out with Hilton.
MTV has set up a web site, www.ParisBFF.com, to encourage people to enter for the chance to “get on Paris’ upcoming reality show and potentially be her new best friend!”
“Wannabe besties” can upload blogs, pictures and videos to their profile in an attempt to convince Paris, MTV and, of course, the voting public that they belong in Paris’s “elite entourage”.
“It’s going to take some serious convincing to set yourself apart from the pack, so let your personality shine through and do whatever it takes to get those votes!” the website urges.
“As a user, you’ll have the option of signing up as a hopeful where you will compete for the chance to get on the show. You can also choose to register as a voter, where you will help Paris know who’s hot and who’s not. Only the best will be considered, so put your best foot forward and convince the community!”
Once the 20 finalists are chosen, they’ll be put through a series of tasks designed to test their loyalty, diplomatic skills and endurance, to see if they have what it takes to be friends with the heiress. At the end of the contest, one winner will be selected to join Hilton’s inner circle.
