Record Company Denies Dumping Backstreet Boys

January 8th, 2008

Rumors have been circulating on the web that the Backstreet Boys are on the verge of being dumped from their record label due to apparent poor sales of their last two albums – a story their label is denying.

Perez Hilton published a piece on the supposed axing on his website claiming, "Sources tell us that following two flop albums in a row, the Backstreet Boys are this close to being dropped by their record label, Jive."

The boyband’s latest album, ‘Unbreakable’, has not sold as well as their previous releases, however, a spokesperson for Jive Records told gossip site TMZ that rumors the band will be dumped are untrue.

"Reports about Jive Records dropping Backstreet Boys are completely untrue. The group is about to embark on a worldwide tour in support of their album, Unbreakable, starting Feb. 16 in Toyko, as well as some high profile television appearances."
