Reese Witherspoon, who turned 33 on Sunday (March 22), had a surprise birthday celebration at the premiere of her new animated flick Monsters Vs. Aliens.
The Oscar-winning actress, who was sporting a dress by Rodarte, was called to the stage of the Gibson Amphitheater along with her co-stars by DreamWorks studio head Jeffrey Katzenberg.
After Seth Rogen, Rainn Wilson, Kiefer Sutherland, Hugh Laurie, Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler and Will Arnett gathered with Witherspoon on stage, Wilson announced that they were going to stage an “intervention” for the beautiful actress.
Wilson told Witherspoon, “We have some hard facts to run by you, because we know it takes a full bottle of Nyquil for you to fall asleep at night.” Wilson continued, “So there’s something very special that we want to say.”
It was then that all the actors began singing “Happy Birthday” with the audience joining in on the celebration as a cake was wheeled onto the stage while Poehler brought home the final verse “Happy birthday, Reese WITHERSPOON, Happy Birthday to you!”
Witherspoon who was taken back by the surprise told the crowd, “Thank you for coming to my birthday party – I mean, the screening of Monsters Vs. Aliens.”
Monsters Vs. Aliens is due out in cinemas on March 27.
