Rep: Joaquin Phoenix Is Really Going Hip-Hop

A rep for Joaquin Phoenix released a statement on Wednesday (January 28) insisting that the former actor is serious about a music career, after numerous sources claim it’s an elaborate joke.
Speculation that his foray into hip-hop is a prank and forms part of a documentary being filmed by Casey Affleck has been rife this week, however, his rep says it’s the truth.
“The transition from one career to another is never seamless,” Susan Patricola explains in a statement to MTV News. “It should come as no surprise to anyone that Joaquin came from a musical family, in addition to winning a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Johnny Cash.
“He intends on exploring his musical interests despite speculative, negative or positive reactions.”
