Rep Releases Statement About Shia LaBeouf Accident

Melissa Kates, a rep for Shia LaBeouf, has released a statement regarding the actor’s car accident on Sunday morning (July 27), revealing he underwent “extensive hand surgery” as a result of the collision and subsequent DUI arrest.
LaBeouf was hospitalized after he smashed into another vehicle and flipped his car while attempting to make a left-hand turn in Hollywood, with authorities stating it was “immediately apparent… that LaBeouf was intoxicated.”
Kates said, “Attorneys for Mr. LaBeouf confirm that an automobile accident involving an additional party occurred early morning in Los Angeles on July 27, 2008. Shia is currently recovering from extensive hand surgery with plans to return to work on the set of ‘Transformers 2′ within one month. No further comment will be issued at this time.”
LaBeouf was arrested and released on a misdemeanor DUI charge as a woman passenger and the driver of the other vehicle were uninjured in the accident.
