NBC announced Friday (October 10) that Salma Hayek is joining the cast of Emmy Award winning tv show ‘30 Rock,’ in a recurring role playing the love interest of Alec Baldwin’s character Jack Donaghy.
“I have been a fan of Tina’s talent, both as an actress and a writer, since working with her years ago on ‘SNL,’” Hayek said in a statement announcing her role. “I am so excited to be part of such an intelligent, funny show, as well as working with the brilliant Alec Baldwin and the rest of the cast of ‘30 Rock.’”
Hayek joins the cast, which this season includes guest stars Jennifer Aniston, Oprah Winfrey, Steve Martin and Megan Mullally, with creator and star Tina Fey excited by the casting.
“Salma is smart, funny, and gorgeous,” Fey said. “I think she will be a great strong presence opposite Jack Donaghy.”
