Sam Lutfi Fights Britney’s Restraining Order

May 1st, 2009

A day after Britney Spears’ conservators extended a restraining order against her ex-manager Sam Lutfi, his attorney is fighting back.

Bryan Freedman filed the appeal on Wednesday in the Los Angeles Superior Court, telling E! News, “There was absolutely no evidence whatsoever that Britney Spears was suffering substantial emotional distress as required by the statute.

“In fact, the evidence was just the opposite—it was that she was reaching out for Sam’s help, and all Sam did was get her a lawyer. There is no evidence of threats or stalking or anything whatsoever.”

Lutfi was Spears’ manager during her highly publicized breakdown and has been prevented from contacting the singer or coming within 100 feet of her home, work, car or family until April 28, 2012.

“If Britney Spears wanted this restraining order herself than why didn’t she testify, come to court, send a letter to the judge or do anything?” Freedman questioned.
