Sean and Robin Wright Penn Divorcing

Long time Hollywood couple Sean Penn and Robin Wright Penn are divorcing, with their divorce papers stating that they split earlier this month citing "irreconcilable differences" and requesting joint legal custody of their two children.

The couple, who were married in 1996, issued a statement on Thursday (December 27) through their representative, Mara Buxbaum, confirming the split.

They filed their paperwork separately, with both listing different days for the official separation, but they both seek to share custody of their sons Hopper Jack, 14, and Dylan Francis, 16. Their case will be heard on April 21.
