Sean Penn has filed for a legal separation from his wife of 13 years, Robin Wright Penn, seeking joint custody of their two teenage children.

This is the couple’s second separation, their first occurred in December 2007 when Wright Penn filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences, only to dismiss the proceedings five months later.

According to the latest documents filed at the Marin County Superior Court, California, Penn is seeking “legal separation with minor children”, being their 18-year-old daughter Dylan and their son Hopper Jack, 15.
