December 9th, 2008

Will Smith has spilled some details about plans for a prequel to his hit movie ‘I Am Legend’ saying producers have a “fantastic” idea.

Speaking at a press day for his new movie ‘Seven Pounds’, Smith told Collider.com, “We have a fantastic prequel idea… we’re still trying to work through a couple of bumps in the story.”

“It’s essentially the fall of the last city,” he continues.  “The last stand of Manhattan.  The movie would be… within the body of the movie DC and then Manhattan would fall as the last city.”

‘I Am Legend’ was a massive box office success making over $580 million worldwide and is one of the 50 highest grossing films of all time.

“It’s a really cool idea trying to figure it out… there’s a reason why we have to take a small band and we have to get into D.C.. So we have to make our way from New York to D.C. and then back to New York.”

When asked if the his sidekick in the movie, a dog named Samantha, would return, Smith replied, “Yes, the dog will be a puppy.”
