Stephen Colbert’s ‘Operation: Humble Kanye’ seems to have paid off, as the faux-news host’s Christmas album beat Kanye West’s latest release on the iTunes charts, only for both of them to be kept from the top spot by Britney Spears.
The tv host launched the campaign against West on Monday night’s show (December 1), after the rapper was quoted as saying, “I will go down as the voice of this generation of this decade.”
Colbert responded saying, “Sir, you are not the voice of this generation of this decade. In fact with all the Auto-Tuning on your records, you’re barely the voice of your own albums.”
West responded to the musical feud, posting a message on Twitter saying “Who the f*ck is Stephen Colbert?”
The call to arms pushed the album ‘A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All’ to second place on the iTunes chart knocking West back to number 4.
Spears’ new album ‘Circus’ outsold booth artists putting her in the top spot.
