British tabloid The Sun has been forced to apologize to Lily Allen for making up a story claiming the singer called David and Victoria Beckham “sickening”.

The quotes were taken from an alleged interview that Allen gave to French mag SoFoot where she called Victoria “a monster”, adding “I’d rather shoot myself between the eyes than be a WAG,” a story the singer refuted at the time.

However, the newspaper printed a retraction and apologized on Friday (September 25) saying:

“In May we reported in Bizarre that Lily Allen had made various offensive remarks about David and Victoria Beckham and Ashley and Cheryl Cole in an interview with a magazine.

We now accept that Lily didn’t say these things to the magazine and we apologise to Lily for the upset and embarrassment caused by repeating them.”
