A US tabloid magazine has issued a retraction of an article that claimed Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie married over the weekend, stating that they are retracting the article because their "sources are not standing by their story".
Star magazine stated that "sources in a position to have information regarding a secret wedding ceremony between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, had confirmed to Star that the couple married in the French Quarter Wedding Chapel on Saturday, March 29."
According to the unnamed source, "There were two weddings, one planned and one unplanned. Brad and Angelina’s was the planned ceremony. The weather wasn’t good, so we were indoors."
The story quickly circulated around the internet, with many gossip sites quoting Star magazine as the source - however, in an update posted on Sunday (March 30), Star states that, "After further investigation, the sources are not standing by their story."
Pitt told Esquire magazine in 2006 that they "will consider tying the know when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able."
At the time of reporting, no comment had been made by either of the couple’s representatives.
