Taylor Swift Rush Releases New Single After Leak

August 5th, 2010

Things didn’t quite go to plan for Taylor Swift and her record label this week after her new single Mine leaked online, forcing her to officially release it 12 days ahead of schedule.

According to a statement issued by Big Machine Records, “An unauthorized low-quality mp3 file of the single appeared online earlier today.  As the low-quality file started to spread virally the decision was made to rush release Mine to iTunes and Country radio to ensure that Taylor’s fans were able to hear the single as she intended.”

The new track, which is lifted from her forthcoming album Speak Now, hit the number one spot on iTunes almost immediately, with Swift writing on Twitter, “I landed in Japan and got 20 texts and looked at iTunes and got tears in my eyes. And so, we begin again. :)”
