‘Desperate Housewives’ star Teri Hatcher had a victory in court on Thursday (December 6), with the judge residing on her case against a cosmetics company denied a motion for early discovery and depositions in the suit, according to etonline.com.
The makers of Hydroderm lodged a US$2.4 million dollar lawsuit against the actress on Tuesday for breaching an exclusive endorsement contract, which Hatcher vehemently denied in a statement, saying, "The allegations of this lawsuit are totally false and completely without merit."
Papers lodged with the Los Angeles Superior Court state that "Ms. Hatcher participated in a full day photoshoot with a top fashion photographer to create first-class advertising… which more than a year later, plaintiff has failed to utilize."
The paperwork also states that, "plaintiff (without warning) widely disseminated a ‘Media Alert’ publicity solicitation before filing a complaint, and offered to make its counsel available for interviews with the press… which has resulted in the wide dissemination of false and extremely damaging publicity through a staggering number of media and internet sources."
Etonline.com reports that a representative for Hatcher said that Judge Helen Bendix agreed that the insinuations made by Hydroderm were "character assassination" of the "worst kind".
