Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne have auctioned off memorabilia over the weekend, raising approximately US$800,000 for the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
More than 500 items went under the hammer, ranging from skull-embossed sneakers to the coffee cup Ozzy drank from in their hit MTV reality show.
The famous rock couple decided to have an auction because "the kids have left, and we have a new house with completely different décor", Sharon tells the LA Times.
"The kids have taken what they really loved, and we’ve moved on with the understanding that people are the only things that cannot be replaced."
According to Access Hollywood, bidders came from as far away as Germany to purchase a slice of Osbourne history. One of the more interesting items up for grabs was a dog bed gifted to the Osborne’s by Sir Elton John.
"Elton John gave it to me for Minnie, my Pomeranian," Sharon explains.
"But she didn’t take to it, and never slept in it."
Sharon Osbourne was diagnosed with colon cancer in July 2002, announcing later that it had spread to her lymph nodes. She documented her treatment and survival on her hit reality show.
