Tina Fey graces the cover of the January edition of Vanity Fair, talking about her critically acclaimed show ’30 Rock’, how a random childhood attack scarred her for life and her love of cupcakes.
In the interview, the actress admits she has never done anything wild, which is one of the reasons she loves her husband, Jeff Richmond, so much.
“I don’t enjoy any kind of danger or volatility,” Fey says. “I don’t have that kind of ‘I love the bad guys’ thing. No, no thank you. I like nice people.”
Fey’s self-deprecating humor is part of her charm, as she explains that her love life in school was a “famine”.
“I really didn’t have very many dates at all,’ the 38-year-old explains. “And that’s not an exaggeration. But also, I don’t think we should discount the fact that unplucked eyebrows and short hair with a perm may not have been the best offering, either.”
In a rare serious moment, she opens up about a random attack that occured during her childhood, when a stranger walked into the front yard and cut her face, leaving a scar on her left cheek.
“It’s impossible to talk about it without somehow seemingly exploiting it and glorifying it,” she reveals adding that she didn’t feel less attractive as a result. “I was a very confident little kid. It’s really almost like I’m kind of able to forget about it, until I was on-camera, and it became a thing of ‘Oh, I guess we should use this side’ or whatever. Everybody’s got a better side.”
Fey also has a love of cupcakes telling the reporter, Maureen Dowd, that it’s ok to indulge before the Vanity Fair photo shoot with Annie Leibovitz because, “Annie’s going to photograph my soul, right?”
