Padma Lakshmi has welcomed a baby daughter doctors dubbed the “medical miracle,” after the Top Chef host battled endometriosis and had struggled to fall pregnant for years.

“Model, author and Emmy-nominated host of Top Chef Padma Lakshmi gave birth to a baby girl named Krishna Thea Lakshmi on Saturday,” her rep told PEOPLE in a statement. “Mother and baby are well and happy.”

As a result of her medical condition, the 39-year-old founded the Endometriosis Foundation of America.
