Travis Barker Suing Over Near-Death Plane Crash

November 23rd, 2008

Travis Barker is suing multiple companies over the September plane crash that almost killed him and Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldsmith in South Carolina.

The former Blink 182 drummer filed a lawsuit Friday (November 21), naming the twin-engine Learjet’s manufacturer, Bombardier Inc, Clay Lacy Aviation and Global Exec Aviation and Goodyear Tire and Rubber as playing a part in the aircraft’s crash on September 19 that killed four people.

Documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court state that, “one or more of the tires failed, leaving tire debris and portions of airplane components along the 8,600 foot runway” and suggests the pilot’s decision to abort the takeoff was “negligent” and a “breach of their duty owed to the passengers onboard and was a substantial factor in causing the crash and resultant injuries and deaths.

The suit adds that the aircraft’s “landing gear, tires, wheels, brakes, reverse thrust system, squat switches and component parts were not airworthy.”

Barker and Thelma Martin Still, mother of his security guard Charles Still who perished in the crash, are seeking $25,000 in damages citing, “pain and suffering, mental anguish, psychological and emotional distrees and disfigurement and pre-impact fear of death and burning.”
