Legendary music producer Daniel Lanois has revealed that U2 has entered a studio in Dublin to continue working on their new album, which is scheduled for release later this year, with Lanois saying that “Bono is all charged up”.

The Irish four-piece have been recording parts of their new album in France and Morocco with Lanois and Brian Eno, both of whom have worked with U2 since the early days of the band.

Lanois told Billboard.com that the band has headed back to their home base in Ireland, with reports suggesting that they have squirelled away enough new material to release two albums

“There’s so much material. When you get Eno and I and those guys in the room, before lunch there’s like eight things,” Lanois said.

"We’ve had some exciting beginnings via jam sessions. Now we will pick our favorite beginnings and say, ‘OK, that’s a lovely springboard. Now what are we trying to say?’ The springboards are sometimes melodic, sometimes riff-based, but I can assure you they are exciting."

No release date for the new album has been announced yet.\
